The Superior Court of the Augusta Judicial Circuit is comprised of BURKE COUNTY; COLUMBIA COUNTY; and RICHMOND COUNTY.
The Superior Court is Georgia's only general jurisdiction trial court with exclusive, constitutional authority over felony cases, divorce, equity, and cases regarding title to land. In addition, the Superior Court may try any form of civil or criminal case except probate matters. The Superior Court also corrects errors made by lower courts, but decisions by some lower courts and governmental bodies also can be appealed to Superior Court.
AUGUSTA JUDICIAL CIRCUIT Drug Court Program:
This program is a sentencing alternative for persons charged with felony drug or drug related charges. The program offers participants intensive out-patient treatment in order to help reduce the recidivism rate among the substance abusing population.
DRUG COURT INFORMATION
AUGUSTA JUDICIAL CIRCUIT Alternative Dispute Resolution Program:
This program was created to offer litigants alternative ways to resolve their disputes other than going to trial. Mediation is a process in which a neutral third party facilities settlement discussions between parties in conflict. SEE ALSO "MEDIATION RULES" BELOW.
MEDIATION PROGRAM
AUGUSTA JUDICIAL CIRCUIT Divorcing Parents Seminar
This is a four-hour educational session required of all Augusta Judicial Circuit domestic actions involving a child or children under 18 years of age. The class is required when the parties are involved in a divorce, separate maintenance, paternity, change of custody, visitation, legitimation, and any other domestic action except contempt and, generally, domestic violence. The program must be completed prior to the court ruling on the case. Online programs are not acceptable. The class costs approximately $30.00. You must file the certificate of completion. Child Support
CLICK HERE: Georgia Child Support Calculator On Jan. 9, 2013, version 8.7 of the Excel electronic Child Support Calculators was released. The Child Support Commission, pursuant to O.C.G.A. 19-6-53(a)(3)(B)(iv), has the statutory responsibility to adjust formulas annually that are used in calculating applicable Social Security (FICA) taxes for self-employment as related changes occur in the federal tax laws. As a result, the formulas used for calculations on Line 3 of Schedule B have been updated. In addition, a Mac informational button was added to the Child Support Website, allowing Users to quickly obtain information necessary to run the Excel Child Support Calculators on a Mac.
