Announcement from Solicitor General of Richmond County

As you are aware, the Courts have been under a Judicial Emergency since March 13, 2020. As a result, all scheduled State Court hearings were cancelled except for emergency and essential hearings. Although we are still operating under a Judicial Emergency, Richmond County State Court will resume in-person court beginning June 17, 2020.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, social distancing will be enforced at your court date. We are encouraging that all persons entering the courtroom to wear a protective face mask. Please do not bring nonessential persons with you, especially children, as courtroom space will be limited.

If you are sick, call this number and do NOT come to court: (706) 821-1220. You may also call this number if you have any questions or health concerns.

You ( or your attorney, if you have one) may call to speak with a prosecutor before your court date. The prosecutor will be happy to discuss with you ( or your attorney) ways to resolve your case which, in some cases, may not require a court appearance. Richmond County Solicitor’s Office phone number: (706) 821-1220.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled court time. It may take a few minutes to enter the building due to social distancing procedures. There will be staff and court personnel to help direct you to the appropriate courtroom.

If you have a scheduled court date on or after June 17, 2020, you will be expected to appear in court on that date. If you had a court date prior to March 13, 2020, your case will be rescheduled at a later time, and you will receive written notice by mail of that rescheduled court date.
